FOCUS: THE ART OF SERVICE
September 7th will be the opening
of a photo exhibition featuring my
work with social services in New
York City.
The purpose of this show is to
help raise awareness of the many
good works done by New York City's
nonprofit organizations.
I visited soup kitchens and food
pantries in the city, and spoke with
their clients and volunteers.
After reading a report studying
hunger in Canada and the United
States, Joel Berg, the Executive
Director of NYC Coalition Against
Hunger which operates the over 1000
soup kitchens and pantries in the
city, said that "It is bad enough
that a nation as wealthy overall as
Canada allows one in 20 children to
lack sufficient food, but it is
truly appalling that a nation as
rich as America allows on in every
12 children to go without enough
food."
I visited Holocaust survivors and
the volunteers that visited them and
took them to their doctor visits.
Thanks to Connect 2 and it's
founder, Sheva Tauby for providing
this invaluable service.
The exhibit will open with a
reception on September 7 @ Chashama
at 112 West 44th Street. It will be
up until the end of September.
